Abstract

In this study we aimed to investigate the impact of using smartphones on the academic performance of undergraduate students at the Kumaun University Nainital. To know the impact, this study used the quantitative research approach to gather data from 450 undergraduate students using google form questionnaires. It had been found that the majority of undergraduate students are using their smartphones to interact with fellow students and lecturers. It had been also found that using smartphones distracts students’ academic lives in certain aspects. The results also indicate the impact of using smartphones on students’ academic capabilities and progress.

    Shokeen received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (Sociology) from Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand India. He pursuing his Ph.D. Degree in Sociology from Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand India. He also Cleared the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (USET-2024) and National Eligibility Test (NET/JRF-2019,2022) in Sociology. His areas of specialization are Research Methods and Classical Sociological thinkers and Theories.

    Dr Priyanka N Ruwali M.A., PhD (Sociology) is an Associate Professor at Kumaun University, Nainital. She is an alumnus of Kumaun University. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience at graduate and post-graduate levels. Her area of research is Urban and Migration studies. She has contributed several research papers in leading National and International Journals.
